Privacy Policy for Encounter: The Lost Cards (Mobile Version)
Last Updated: March 20, 2026
1. Introduction
Encounter GG ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of its players. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you play the mobile version (iOS and Android) of our game "Encounter: The Lost Cards," including any demo or full version thereof (the "Game").
By using the Game, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected].
2. Information We Collect
We automatically collect certain information ("Data") when you play the Game, including:
- Technical Information: IP Address, device type, Operating System and version. A "Guest ID" (a persistent, randomly-assigned identifier generated by our servers on your first launch and stored within the application) is assigned to track your session and progress. This identifier may qualify as personal data under applicable privacy laws, including GDPR. We do not collect hardware device identifiers.
- Usage Data: In-game events (e.g., tutorial steps, level completion), player progression, and session duration.
- Crash Reports: System specifications (CPU, GPU, RAM), crash data, and file paths within the game's root directory.
- Linked Account Data: If you choose to link a Steam account, you will securely enter your email and password via a web browser using Steam's own portal/OAuth website. Through this integration, we collect "Third-Party Identifiers" (Steam IDs) and "Entitlement Data" (Ownership status). We do not see or store your Steam login credentials.
- Offline Data Synchronization: When playing offline, XP and unlocks are stored in a local cache. This data will only be committed to the remote server once an internet connection is re-established.
We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information such as your name or address through the Game itself.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the Data we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain the Game.
- To identify and fix bugs, crashes, and other technical issues.
- To analyze gameplay data to balance the game and improve the player experience.
- To ensure the security of our services and prevent cheating.
- Account Recovery: To restore progress across devices or after reinstallation using your linked Steam ID or generated Guest ID.
- Anti-Exploitation: To ensure in-game progress and In-App Purchase (IAP) redemptions match the authorized server state.
- Parity Verification: To confirm eligibility for Premium features and bonuses (such as the 3x Scroll Login Bonus Multiplier) for linked accounts that own the game on Steam.
- Cross-Platform Linkage: If you link a Steam account, your Steam ID and associated progress data are shared between platforms and are also governed by our Steam Privacy Policy. Valve's own Privacy Policy continues to govern data held on their platform.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell your Data. We may share your Data with third-party service providers, such as Cloudflare, Inc., which we use for server hosting, security, and data storage. Data is processed in accordance with Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. We may also disclose your information if required to do so by law.
5. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
- Storage and Transfer: Your Data is processed and stored on Cloudflare's global network and may be transferred outside of your country of residence.
- Security: We rely on industry-standard security measures provided by Cloudflare to protect your Data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
- Retention: We retain Data for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. We may periodically review and delete or anonymize data that is no longer needed, but do not guarantee immediate deletion upon cessation of use unless required by law.
6. Your Rights, Choices, & Children's Privacy
Your Rights: Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right of Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
- Right to Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal exceptions. If you have not linked a Steam account, you may also request deletion of your Guest ID and associated progress; note that such deletion will result in permanent loss of your game progress.
- Right to Restriction: Request that we limit the processing of your personal data.
- Right to Data Portability: Request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to Object: Object to our processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected].
Children's Privacy: The Game is not intended for or directed at children under the age of 13 (or under the age of 16 for users located in the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the applicable age threshold. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
7. Changes & Controlling Language
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy and updating the "Last Updated" date. The original version of this Privacy Policy is in English. Any translations are provided for convenience only. In the event of any conflict or inconsistency between the English version and a translation, the English version shall govern and control.
8. Data Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach that is reasonably likely to result in significant harm to you, Encounter GG will notify affected users and report to the relevant authorities as required by applicable law, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where applicable, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
